Local Preschool Teachers Use Interviews to Build Connections with Young Students

In a heartwarming new initiative, teachers at Bright Beginnings Preschool have started holding brief, informal interviews with their students to learn more about their interests and personalities. The goal? To foster stronger connections and create an environment where each child feels valued.

During one recent interview, Ms. Riley, a teacher in the “Rainbow” class, sat down with 4-year-old Zoe, who eagerly shared her love for painting and playing outside. "I like painting rainbows and playing in the sandbox," Zoe said with a smile. When asked what she wanted to learn next, she excitedly mentioned wanting to know more about animals, especially lions.

Ms. Riley believes these conversations help her connect with students on a personal level. "Taking the time to listen to them one-on-one makes a huge difference,” she explained. “It gives us insights into their personalities and helps us create activities that are even more meaningful.”

This simple but impactful initiative has already been a hit with the children, who look forward to their time in the spotlight. As Bright Beginnings Preschool continues these friendly interviews, the teachers are seeing firsthand how personal connections can enrich each child’s learning experience.
